Merry Christmas

We had such an great Christmas. Christmas is so magical with little kids. We spent Christmas Eve with Mike's family and then Christmas day it was just us and we stayed home. Daddy had to leave for work at 1pm, so we did all the present opening and as much playing with Daddy as we could before he had to leave. Then the boys and I just played played played all day. They were pretty excited that they didn't even have to take a nap on Christmas.

The boys are always so in awe of Great Grandma & Grandpa's Christmas decor

When I was growing up my parents let us open one gift on Christmas Eve and is was always jammies. My mom still sends us our Christmas Eve jammies each year. The boys loved their Monster Jam pjs.

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

We made a birthday cake for Jesus this week. I can explain the number candles.... no normal candles in the house, can't sing and blow out candles with nothing, so last resort was to dig out all the number candles we had. It worked and the boys loved it.

Merry Christmas!!

My Handsome Little Men

I took some pics in our backyard of the boys about a month ago. I was attempting to get some good shots for the grandparents for Christmas. We only have a point and shoot camera, but I think they turned out cute. And now that all the family received their Christmas cards I can share some fun pics of my handsome little ones.

Not So Wordless Wednesday

Jason is making so much progress with his speech. It seems like just over the last couple weeks he has started talking so much. It's to the point where I couldn't count how many words he has anymore. For the longest time he only had maybe 5... seriously, that's it.

I am so in love with his adorable little voice. Of course, it isn't the clearest yet, but we understand him and just seeing him try is so awesome. I am so thankful that the tubes he had put in his ears were effective and that we are finally seeing the outcome we prayed and hoped for.

It just makes me so happy to be able to talk with my boy.

We did it!

Two months ago my friend Rachel and I decided we were going to start running with the goal of a 5k in December. After lots of running over the last 8 or so weeks we were ready for our first race which was this morning.

It was a trail run through beautiful Sanbourn Park in Saratoga. We definitely underestimated how tough a trail run would be and how steep the hills were. But... we did it and it was so exciting to cross that finish line.

We both placed 8th in our age groups. Can't wait for the next one!

Christmas Partaaay!

We had a blast at the Christmas Dinner Dance put on by Mike's work. This is our second year going and it is definitely a new tradition with our friends.

We enjoyed lots of laughs, a beautiful venue, yummy food and of course a night away with no kiddos. I always look forward to getting away over night with Mike simply because that means we get to sleep in! Not so much this time... We were woken up by the front desk calling to tell us that they have to turn off the water on our side of the hotel and they wanted to let us know in case we were still sleeping. Seriously?!?!

Despite the not so fun wake up call, we had an awesome time and I can't wait until next year!

Late Thanksgiving and Pretty Tree

I did not mean to totally skip over a Thanksgiving and the whole "what I am thankful for post." We did have a wonderful Thanksgiving with Mike's family. We also had a great time in Santa Maria the weekend after visiting my family. The sad part is I brought my camera to Santa Maria and then realized I left my memory card in my laptop at home, so no fun pics from all the fun we had on that trip. On Thanksgiving day I didn't take very many pics because we were too busy having fun and playing BINGO. Fail for me... I love having pics with my posts.

So I will redeem myself (and make my mom happy to see pics of the boys) and share pics of us choosing our tree last night.

I loved waking up and smelling our beautiful tree. Happy December!!

Random Fun

Just some fun pics...

This weekend Josh went with Daddy to the dump. Now all the boys have been playing is "dump". Josh told Jason all about it and they literally spend hours doing this. The first thing Josh said when he woke up this morning was, "Where are my gloves? I need to go do my dump work."
Basically, they stack a bunch of pillows on one side of the couch, then re stack them on the other and then on the floor and do this over and over and over.

We moved into our house over 4 years ago and Josh was only 4 months old. People would always comment on our wood floors and how someday our kids would be sliding all over them in their socks. Well, that someday is here and I have two little boys who are pros at it.

Josh is still taking naps about 4 times a week. I will continue to milk it as long as I can. The days he stays awake he has to play in the playroom, but I never make him stay in there too long. Mostly, because he loves to do this...

The kid loves to do the dishes. He will seriously do a sink full of dishes, loading them in the dishwasher and everything. We were doing "school" the other day during nap time and he told me, "Mom, this is boring. Can I do the dishes?" I will milk this while I can too.

A Miracle

I have been healed, like in Jesus' times healed!

I was so blind, like can't see your face in the mirror or your alarm clock right next to your head blind. Not anymore!!! I can see!! I now even have better than 20/20vision.

I had Lasik on Friday. That whole procedure could be another post in itself about how crazy it was or how I almost had a nervous breakdown when they pried my eyelids open. I will spare the gory details and pics, but Mike did take lots of pics if anyone wants to see. I followed doctors orders and thanks to a nice little sleeping pill (and my amazing husband for taking awesome care of the boys and I) I slept for the rest of the day and night. The best way to heal after Lasik is to keep your eyes closed for a minimum of 8 hours after surgery. (I was not going to argue with that much uninterrupted alone time) So I didn't really get to try out my new eyes until yesterday.

It is a miracle! Everything is so crystal clear, even better than when I would wear my glasses or contacts. I keep looking for my glasses or go to push them up on my nose and they aren't there.

Josh and I taking one last pic with my glasses on Friday.

Getting prepped

Getting lasered

It's all done and I can see! I even get to wear these super hot eye shields for a couple more days...

My Life...

This is a glimpse of how I always pictured my life as a mom... pink, lace, tulle, bows, dress up, tea parties, princesses, ballet recitals, cheer competitions, piano lessons, shopping... get it?? I always just figured I would be a girl mom. I even collected anything Cinderella specifically for my daughter.

Well, this is what God had planned for my life as a mom... blue, bugs, dirt, bodily functions, sports teams, dirt bikes, wrestling, monster trucks... get it??

We spent our day at the dirt bike park. As much of a girly girl that I am, I still love this kind of stuff.

God planned for me to be a boy mommy and I think growing up on a ranch, shooting guns, camping, riding tractors, herding cattle with my dad, playing in hay were all little ways God was preparing me to enjoy what I get to do with my boys.

No matter how different I may have pictured my life to be, I wouldn't change the life God planned for me for anything. I love my dirt biking boys and my even bigger boy that I get the honor of being the wife of and raising these precious boys with.

Date Night

Daddy and Josh got to go on a date last night. We had one excited little boy when Mike told him what they were doing.

I think Mike was just as excited, if not more to take Josh to his first hockey game.

Sharks won!!

Gonna Brag...

Part of our bedtime routine on the nights that Daddy is working is to call him and say goodnight. Most nights Josh wants to dial, so I tell him the numbers and he dials. No big deal... my smarty pants knows his numbers, so I never really think much of it when he quickly dials the numbers I say.

Tonight we did our normal read books then call Daddy routine. Josh told me he could do it by himself, so I handed him the phone. Before I could even start telling him the numbers he totally dialed Mike's number on his own, pressed speaker and started talking to his Dad.

It is just so funny how I always think that he is not listening to me and then he always surprises me. Like when I thought (and was a little worried) Mr. Smarty Pants didn't know his months of the year or days of the week. Then one night he says them all out of nowhere.

So for those of you who I call often... don't be surprised if a certain 4 yr old calls you to chat.

Happy Halloween
