Family, Fishies and Fun

The boys and I spent the last couple days in Santa Maria visiting family. Here are some pics of our fun trip.

My cousin, Chad and his wife Melissa had their first baby in August. Brody Wyatt makes great grandson #3. Here is Chad and I with our Grandma and our boys. (poor Jason was not a happy little guy)

My Grandpa and Grandma have a small pond in their backyard with lots of fishies and a turtle. The boys love to go look at the fish.

The boys are so blessed to have lots of fun cousins to play with.... just wished they didn't live so far away.

One of the highlights for Josh had to be when he got to ride around the block in Auntie's convertible.

When Josh tuned 2, Daddy got him a Power Wheels Quad. He took to it like a natural and is now a complete pro on it.

Today Mike and I were sitting in the backyard watching the boys play. When Josh was done riding his quad, Jason ran over to it and hoped on. We noticed that Jason could reach the pedal, so Mike turned on the quad, put it in low gear and Jason was off. (we didn't even put a helmet on him, because we didn't think he could actually make it go) He rode that thing by himself all over the backyard. Mike would walk along side to help him steer, but Jason pushed the pedal on his own. I was in shock and ran inside to get my camera.

So Wrong

It is officially fall, almost October and SO HOT!!
I think there is something wrong with the fact that we were doing this at 9:30 am this morning...

We didn't even stay outside very long because it was getting way too hot. We came inside and quickly blasted the a/c.
Yesterday, I pulled my fall decor out of the shed. I put it all out last night in hopes of fall weather...wrong!! It feels pretty weird to go outside wearing shorts and a tank in 95 degree weather and then come inside to a fall/harvest decorated house.
All I know is if I am still wearing shorts and tanks to the pumpkin patch next month I won't be very happy!

Cupcake Fun

Today we had some fun in the kitchen and made cupcakes. Josh loves helping me bake and he wants to do everything "all by himself".

So excited about the frosting

Even more excited to use the mixer

We had to include Jason too. He was more than happy to sit on the kitchen floor and play with his pots and pans.

The final product

Boy did I pay for it later with some hyper, crazy boys!

Week 5

Josh and I are still going strong with preschool at home. I can't believe we are already on week 5. I am so proud of him and impressed with how fast he is learning.

During our first month he has learned...
-recognizing numbers 1-6
-recognizing Aa, Bb, Cc and their sounds
-memorized Genesis 1:1
-creation story (his Sunday school class is also focusing on this for the month of September, so he gets a double dose)
-days of the week (no where near mastered yet)

This week we'll review what we've learned and throw in...
-numbers 7,8
-letter Dd and it's sound
-memorizing Psalm 34:13 (which talks about lying and that is something we've been working on lately)
-fine and gross motor skills
-learning the letters in his name and be able to recognize 'Josh'

This week Josh got to change up "school" a little and do it with his friend Gianna. I'd have to say he was more interested in showing her his motorcycle in the backyard, but they did have some fun learning together.
Here are the goofballs

Josh and I also had some fun at breakfast using blueberries on his waffles to make letters. (it looked much better in the Parent's magazine I got the idea from)

Happy Grandparent's Day!

When my sister, brother and I were growing up my mom always made us acknowledge our grandparent's on Grandparent's Day. Since we lived in Nevada and all our Grandparents were in California we either mailed cards or at least made phone calls.

Now that I have kiddos of my own, I think it is so important for them to do the same for their grandparents. Our boys are so blessed to have quite a few grandparents, since both Mike and I are extremely blessed to still have our own grandparents around.

We started a little tradition last year of having a Grandparent's Day BBQ at our house for Mike's parents and grandparents since they live in San Jose. My sister in law, Gissell and niece, Clarissa came too. Since my parents and grandparent's are out of town, we still had the boys make cards and sent them.

We had a fun day yesterday with Grandma and Grandpa Katherman (Mike's parents)

Great Grandma and Great Grandpa (Mike's grandparents)

I SO wish my family lived close too!!! Here are some pics of some more of our wonderful grandparents!!

Nanie and Poppie (my mom and dad)

Grammy and Grampy (my grandparent's)

I Did It!

I finally figured out how to re design my blog! I bet you thought I was all blog savvy.... not at all! My friend, Lisa made my last couple cute backgrounds for me.
I should be doing a million other things right now, but instead I spent way too long trying to figure out how to change my header. All I wanted to do was change the pics I had of the boys to newer ones. Once I got going I couldn't stop. It is actually pretty easy and fun!
